There are many situations that will require storage and there are a wide range of storage solutions available to accommodate your needs. Shelving is a great storage option that is available and it can house a wide range of items and can either be in a standard unit with multiple shelves in or a unit with singular shelves that can be attached to the wall.
If you have smaller items that need to be stored then there are some plastic storage boxes that are available and they can sit on the shelving to keep your items organised.
They come in a range of colours or clear plastic so that you can see what is inside the boxes without having to take the lids off. There are a range of sizes available and you have the option to buy lids for the boxes too. The lids either come with a complete lid or there are lids that are spilt in two so you can easily access the end of the box that you need.
If you have a lot of CDs or DVDs then there are plastic storage boxes that are manufactured for them to fit in perfectly, these work well as if your store your collections in order the storage boxes makes sure that they are kept in the order that you have them in, whilst also keeping them clean and protected. If a friend comes round to look at your CD collection, they will find it a better experience if you store them properly. There is something a bit irritating about having CDs strewn around a room full of clutter and mess. If you don't look after your CDs some of them may get damaged, chances are that it could be on your favourites.

Another math question to solve...?
A DVD rack is 21 1/4 inches wide, including 1/2 inch of wood on each side of the rack. A DVD case is about 9/16 inch wide. How many DVD cases can fit on one shelf of the rack?
Since the exterior width is 21 1/4 inches the interior width is 21 1/4 - 1/2 - 1/2 = 21 1/4 - 1 = 20 1/4 inches.
I am now going to change the form of 20 1/4 to:
20*4
------- + 1/4 = (80 + 1)/4 = 81/4

since the number of DVD cases is dependent on them all jammed in together (dubious) there is no space in between two touching cases.
So the number of cases (n) that can be jammed in is the total interior width divided by the width of the cases. That is:
n = (81/4) / (9/16)
The least common denominator of the two denominators in that fraction is 16, so we will multiply the numerator and denominator of the main fraction by 16.,
((81/4 * 16)) = 81 * 4 = 324
(9/16) * 16 = 9.
Thus n = (81/4) / (9/16) = 36...<<<
So, theoretically you could jam in 324/9 = 36 DVD cases in there.<<<
This isn't a part of the problem, but I know how tough it is to extract one case from jammed-in cases and would probably settle for 34 DVD cases.<<<
