How safe is skydiving?
The United States Parachute Association (USPA) estimate that over 2,000,000 jumps done here each year in the United States. Sounds like a lot, but only less than 1% of our population has never experienced the thrill of skydiving.
We do not live in a safe environment (where we all live in a bubble). Every day when we wake up and leave our home, we take risks! Driving our cars, bicycles or just walking on a street in the city, there are inherent risks of the unknown that may be beyond our control. We minimize the risk of lead more slowly, safety belts, drive safer cars, and never talk or send text messages on our mobile phones while driving (lol). The real question here is "How safe is skydiving?
Each year in the past 10 years, there are about 20-30 deaths (out of 2,000,000) that occur during skydiving here in the United States. If it is estimated that on is actually less, 0015% (less than 1/1000th of 1%) due to die in the sport of skydiving. Skydiving is actually one of the safest in the "extreme sport" that people participate in. Each year more than 40,000 people die in traffic accidents, 3,000 die in fishing accidents, 800 bikes, 80 people are killed by lightning (these statistics do not include the number of participants). The key here is that there is risk in everything we participate in today's life every day.
Is skydiving team up?
A team of skydivers has three main components parachute system and usually an activation of the automatic reservation (see below). One primary and emergency parachute are packed into a backpack with a specialized agency of the circumference of the chest and thigh attached to hold the bridge securely.
Skydiving equipment has advanced considerably over the past years. Round parachutes are rarely seen these days and have been replaced by modern, rectangular "Ram-air canopy" that have better directional control and provides soft landings. Reserve parachutes are generally used on the back above the main parachute, as opposed Front-mount assembly on canvas and parachutes today are more durable. Parachute canopies are usually made of zero porosity nylon fabric that lasts thousands of jumps.
No parachute is 100 percent reliable. However, most, malfunction human error, not mechanical failure. The main parachute malfunction can usually be attributed to improper packaging, a bad art at the time of deployment, or inadequate pre-jump inspection. These errors make it necessary to book and a main parachute. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires that the reserve parachute be inspected and repacked every 180 days (if it is used or not) by a surveyor of the FAA-certified parachute. In case of malfunction, the bridge to get rid of the main parachute by pulling the handle cup. A second actively manage the reserve parachute.
The automatic switching device (AAD)
One of the key innovations of the security was "AAD or automatic activation device – which can be activated automatically reserve parachute of a rider, if the rider is disabled or disoriented or lost track of altitude. ISU for years, but until the 1990s were clearly inaccurate, too large margin for error in altitude.
In 1990 a German named Helmut Cloth innovative brought a notable improvement in ACD known as "Cypress" or Cybernetic Parachute Release System.
ADF scan material (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) has revolutionized the ADF, and became what was once one, the bulky students in a compact, highly reliable, easy to access (for $ 1200) saving device for all skydivers of all levels experience.
During the free fall drop and cover, CYPRES using measuring equipment to continuously measure barometric altitude, a parachute and descent rate. If a skydiver falls faster than a certain speed, beyond pre-set height (750 feet AGL), this device will be activated instantly paratroopers parachute.
Parachuting Is summary of safety?
To be honest it is not skydiving alley, or basket weaving, but it is Russian roulette! With today's technology and technical training, skydiving is not so sure like any other recreational activity. Of the 30 deaths in 2,000,00 jumps performed each year 90% of individuals were experienced by the riders who were called error trial or reached its limits. Not for the first or tandem students!
Range Skydivers from 18 to 96. People like the feeling of skydiving, the camaraderie, challenges, and overcome their own limits on his personal path of personal growth! Whether young or old, or if skydiving is something you've always wanted to try, do not fear or misconceptions grip and security that you control your life. Take life by the proverbial balls and place and continue to experience of life!
